Okay so without a doubt I get the most questions asked about my hair on a daily basis - Where do you get your hair done? Is that your natural hair? How did you get it that colour without damaging it? etc..
I thought it would be much more convenient to have all of the information in one place rather than repeating the same thing to every message I receive. Enough chit chat, let's talk details.
IS THAT YOUR NATURAL HAIR?
Yes. The length is all my own hair unless stated otherwise. When I do wear extensions I use Luxury For Princess hair (will do a separate post on that). My hair has always been long and I get it trimmed every 4 months or so.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR HAIR DONE/WHO IS YOUR HAIR STYLIST?
As I've mentioned a lot on my Instagram, I get my hair done at The Style Club Hairdressers on South William street. There is also one in Tallaght Square, North Earl street and The Pavillions Swords If you happen to live in Dublin. The salon itself is amazing, colorfully decorated with wacky shapes and patterns It reminds me of something from a Dr.Suss book. You can follow their Instagram @StyleClubHairdressing and have a look at the work done by the talented stylists. As for my stylist, Darragh(who happens to be my brother) is my stylist and he has been doing my hair for years. But sadly he is leaving to move to London in the next few weeks so you won't be able to request him - Sorry ladies.
WHAT COLOUR IS USED ON YOUR HAIR?
I get this question a lot and I always feel bad when I can't give a direct answer. There is no specific 'colour' used on my hair as it is so naturally dark that it would not take. My hair colour has been achieved by using toners to colour correct the bleach used to brighten my hair. By using a toner I can maintain a cool ashy blonde. There's no point in me telling you to use exactly what Darragh uses on my hair because everyone's hair is different and your stylist will choose what's best to suit you.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR HAIR LIKE THAT AND HOW LONG DID IT TAKE?
BALAYAGE. I started getting Balayage done to my hair around 4 years ago. Of course It was hardly even noticeable at first but to me I was Caramel Blonde(delusional teenager). 3 years ago is when I really started to bring the Balayage higher up so that it would be more of an effortless beachy blonde rather than an obvious 'ombre' as it was reffered to back then. I would say it took maybe 8 months for me to be completely happy with the colour which is what I now maintain. You can do it in shorter time frame but it was really important that I didn't over work the hair and cause it to snap.
HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR HAIR FROM TURNING BRASSY?
Even with the help of a toner, after a while your hair can begin to look brassy when your in between hair appointments. I use a silver shampoo with every wash to keep my hair looking fresh. The shampoo itself is purple but it works like toner to colour correct any yellow or brassy tones and keeps the hair 'silver' aka a cool shade. Some of the more blonde pieces of hair that frame my face are usually an icy blonde colour because of it. Sometimes if I feel like my hair needs an extra 'pick me up' I leave in for about 5 minutes to work it's magic. You can find silver shampoo in Boots by the brand Bleach London which is what I use if I cant get my hands on the L'oreal one. It can be quite drying on the hair sometimes so make sure to use conditioner.
I hope I've covered everything for you lot! Hair is one of those things that when your hair looks bad YOU feel bad. I've seen so many of those Barber memes about how they control your self esteem and it's the same for us girls too! You'll be in great hands if you decide to go to The Style Club to tame your mane. May the Hair God be ever in your favour!
