HELLO! Again, firstly I want apologize for my lack of posting lately! It was Christmas so it was nice to spend my days off work just sitting in watching Christmas movies and being cosy ( all in the holiday spirit!)
I know I'm not alone when I say that this year has absolutely flew by! But what a year it has been. It feels like yesterday that i was still going to school and stressing over exams. I never thought I'd see the end of my final year of school and the dreaded Leaving Cert that haunted my life for the year. But i got through it and I'm very happy with the result i achieved which leaves me with many options for the future.
I'd just like to give a piece of advice for anyone thinking of taking a year out before heading to college - DO IT! Whether it's to travel, to 'find yourself' or you simply don't feel ready. Being able to recognize that I wasn't ready to go to college was one of the best things that happened to me. The thought of college daunted me so much as a student that i never even applied to the CAO because I knew that I was too overwhelmed by the idea of it all. I'm not one of those people who is afraid of missing out so while my friends enjoy the college lifestyle I'm content with where I'm at.
I've achieved so many things this year that i never thought would ever happen for me. From finally starting my own Blog to doing photo shoots and working with amazing people, And if I had rushed into college to study a course I wasn't passionate about then I wouldn't have achieved those things. I've matured so much this past year and feel motivated to make this year even better. That saying 'The universe gives you exactly what you are ready for at the exact time we need it in our lives' always springs to mind when I think about what has gone on in my life this year and the opportunities that I have been given.
Moral of the story is do things for YOU! Don't do something just because your friends are doing it or because your parents want you to. I'm lucky enough to have parents who supported my decision but others aren't so fortunate. If you live your live to please others then you will never truly become the person you are meant to be! And that applies to everything - not just school life.
Set goals, make a plan and work to achieve them everyday. Whether it's your mind set or your actions you need to change, slow progress is better than no process and little by little you will see positive changes in your life. If you don't do something about it , it will never happen and that's how New Years Resolutions fall flat. When you're having a bad day it's easy to feel unmotivated and unappreciative but I always make myself mentally list off all the things I'm thankful for and all of the good things that have come my way so far. A bad day isn't a bad life!
I'm never one to get too personal or philosophical when it comes to my experiences but I think it's nice every once in a while to share my thoughts(or rant). ANYWAYYY I wish all of you a wonderful year and thank you for supporting me on my new venture!
