Hello lovelies!
So this isn't my typical type of blog post but I think it's important to be as real as possible and share my experience getting lip fillers!
It is a change to my face after all, it's not as if you guys won't notice!
And I just want to note that in no way am I encouraging lip fillers or cosmetic surgery. If there is a part of your body that you aren't happy with then I see no problem in enhancing it to make you feel more comfortable in your own skin. As long as you are doing it for you, and only you!

I've always been insecure about my mouth area growing up as I had crooked teeth. Last year I finally fixed that insecurity and got Six month clear braces and it was honestly life changing! I have so much more confidence now that my teeth are straight but I was still self conscious of my lips and wanted a plumper pout. I actually had lip fillers done last November but felt as though the effects were gone as soon as the swelling died down and I never got the result I wanted.
WHERE?
So after much consideration I decided to give it another try because It was still an insecurity of mine. I did a lot of research before hand and knew exactly what I was getting into. I decided to pay a visit to Therapie Clinic on Molesworth street to have the procedure done. The clinic itself was beautiful and smelled amazing! The staff were so friendly and I honestly didn't feel nervous at all because I felt at ease and knew I was in great hands.
PROCEDURE
The whole procedure only took around 20 minutes in total which was great. The Nurse was so lovely and she had fab lips of her own so I knew I would be happy with mine. After the Nurse had injected the filler in my lips she handed me a mirror to have a look at the results and then she went in with a little more filler to even it out. I was sooo happy with the results because they still looked like my lips.. just better! The filler that was used was Emervel and she injected just under 1ml in my lips. Emervel is a soft dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid that will break down in the body over time - meaning it isn't permanent!
PAIN
Just before heading in to get the procedure done, I was brought into a room to take some 'before' photos and had the numbing cream applied to lips. The cream began to work immediately and by the time I had my consent forms filled out I was completely numb! The only pain I felt was a slight pinch each time the needle injected the filler. I would say it was a 2.5 out of 10 if I were to put the pain on a scale. The results were visible immediately and I was able to leave the clinic and walk around town for an hour without any major swelling.
AFTER CARE
My lips had began to swell a few hours later and there was a little bruising. The nest morning when I woke up the swelling had increased and the bruising was more visible (as you can see in the collage photo) but it wasn't anything crazy that would stop me from leaving the house! I continued the apply the cream I was supplied with because you gotta keep those lips luscious honey! For those of you who might be worried about returning to work after having the procedure done, I would say to give yourself maybe two days for the swelling to reduced .. pop a bit of lipstick over any bruises and you're good to go!
PRICE
Therapie have a special offer on for lip fillers at the moment: 1ml costs €250 (was €395) at the Dublin and Cork clinics.
I hope this was educational to any of you who are thinking of having your lips enhanced! If I missed anything and you have any questions just let me know and I will be happy to answer!
Aisling X
